Waste reduction is something incredibly important to the environment. An average human being generates around 4.3 lbs of trash/waste per day and if that doesn't seem like a lot, it can really add up since there are billions of us on Earth. Waste Reduction Week passed us by in October so the question is, was it a success? The chief of the janitorial staff has cited that Longfields has the worst garbage problem than any other school that he had been to. Even though we have plenty of trash cans around our school, people still litter. Waste Reduction Week passed us by but is there is still time for us to work hard at protecting the environment, we shouldn't have to have a week to motivate us to care. Wake up, Longfields! Now is the time to act because if we don't do it now, when will we?
